Solo Mode

When you select Solo Practitioner as your firm type, AtlasOS enables soloMode — a configuration flag that streamlines the entire platform for a single-user workflow. This page explains exactly what changes and what remains fully functional.

What Changes in Solo Mode

Landing View: Focus

Instead of the standard Tasks view, solo mode opens to the Focus view — a personal dashboard designed for one person managing many clients:

  • Today's deadlines — compliance obligations and task due dates for today.
  • Overdue items — anything past its deadline, sorted by urgency.
  • This week — upcoming deadlines and tasks for the current week.
  • Awaiting client response — tasks blocked on client input.
  • Quick actions — one-click access to create tasks, log time, or generate invoices.

The Focus view is your command centre. It answers the question: "What do I need to do right now?"

Team Management is Hidden

In solo mode, the following team-related features are removed from the interface:

  • Staff directory and team member management.
  • Team assignments on tasks (all tasks are implicitly yours).
  • Role and permission configuration (you have full access to everything).
  • Team utilisation and capacity reports.

This removes visual clutter and eliminates unnecessary configuration steps.

No Broadcasts Module

The Broadcasts module (bulk email to client segments) is disabled. For a solo practitioner, individual client communications via Smart Inbox are more appropriate than mass mailings.

If you need to send a message to multiple clients, you can do so directly from the Smart Inbox by composing individual emails.

No Chat Module

Internal team chat is disabled — there is no team to chat with. All communication happens through:

  • Smart Inbox — client email management.
  • Client Portal — secure document exchange with clients.

What Stays Fully Functional

Solo mode does not reduce the power of AtlasOS — it reduces the noise. The following modules remain fully operational:

Compliance Calendar

The full compliance calendar with SARS and CIPC deadline tracking is active. AtlasOS auto-generates deadlines per client based on their entity type:

  • VAT eFiling deadlines.
  • PAYE filing and payment deadlines.
  • Provisional tax payment dates.
  • Company and individual income tax return deadlines.
  • CIPC annual return deadlines.

Billing

Complete billing functionality:

  • Time tracking with configurable hourly rates.
  • Invoice generation with multi-line items.
  • Payment recording and tracking.
  • Work-in-progress (WIP) monitoring.
  • Quotes and proposals for new clients.

Client Portal

Your clients still get a secure portal to:

  • Upload documents.
  • View their compliance status.
  • Access invoices and statements.
  • Complete onboarding forms.

Smart Inbox

AI-powered email triage works identically to the full platform — routing emails to the correct client, suggesting task creation, and enabling quick replies.

AI Agents

Autonomous workflow assistance remains available. AI Agents can:

  • Monitor deadlines and send reminders.
  • Triage incoming emails.
  • Suggest task prioritisation.
  • Assist with document processing.

Contracts and Onboarding Forms

Manage engagement letters, store client agreements, and use onboarding forms to collect client information — all without team overhead.

Upgrading from Solo Mode

If your practice grows and you hire staff, you can disable solo mode:

  1. Navigate to Administration > Practice Settings.
  2. Toggle Solo Mode off.
  3. AtlasOS will reveal team management features, enable the Chat module, and unlock Broadcasts.

No data is lost — the transition simply expands the available interface.
