Welcome to Legal on AtlasOS

AtlasOS is purpose-built for law firms and conveyancers — whether you run a sole practice, a boutique litigation firm, or a full-service commercial and conveyancing operation. The platform adapts its terminology, modules, and sidebar layout to match how legal professionals actually work.

Already familiar with AtlasOS from another vertical? The core platform is the same. This guide covers what is different when your firm type is set to Legal Practice.

When you select Legal Practice during onboarding, the platform applies legal-specific terminology throughout the interface:

Standard TermLegal Term
ClientMatter
ClientsMatters
EngagementMandate
ComplianceCourt Dates
ServiceMatter Type

Your sidebar is relabelled accordingly — you will see Matters where other verticals see "Work", Court & Compliance instead of "Compliance Calendar", and Case Files instead of "Documents".

Getting Started

  1. Create your practice — sign up and select Legal Practice as your firm type
  2. Import your matters — add client entities and create matters with their associated types (litigation, conveyancing, commercial, family, etc.)
  3. Configure court date tracking — set up compliance templates for court rules, filing deadlines, and prescription periods
  4. Connect Gmail — link your email to enable Smart Inbox routing and automatic matter association
  5. Set billing rates — configure hourly rates by seniority or matter type, and set up trust account tracking

General platform features such as Smart Inbox, AI Advisory, and Practice Admin are documented in the Accounting section. The same features apply to Legal — only the terminology differs.
